I read The Hobbit back in September (my second time reading it). The Lord of the Rings basically catapulted me into the fantasy/sci-fi/horror realm of literature. I was such a Tolkien geek back then. I drew maps, tried to write in runes and wrote down the elvish/dwarvish passages used in the three soundtracks. God, I miss those days.

Anyway, I didn't like The Hobbit initially so I gave it a second chance last year (and the book that I bought had beautiful illustrations on the cover lol) and I was surprised that it was nothing like I remembered it. It was funny, a breeze to read and, as you pointed out, has a lot of heart. Thinking about it now, it's an encouraging read for those going through some difficult times in their lives.

Also, yes I read The Art of Fielding in Paulo's Kindle (Keyboard) and I love how light the e-reader is compared to the heavy Nook.

Aargh, haven't started The Heroes of Olympus. Don't bother with The Kane Chronicles. Ended up giving away my copy of the first book. Have no intention of coming back to it. This Heroes of Olympus series you speak highly of, though, I ought to direct my seaweed brain to soon. :P

Hi Carina!

Thank you very much for picking up TRESE and glad that enjoyed our tour of the dark side of Manila (well, at least some parts of it).

If you'd like to know more about Alexandra and her family, I hope you can pick up the third book, TRESE: MASS MURDERS.

Many thanks for this review :-)
